The “County Agent’s” Daughter
Mace Bauer UF/IFAS Columbia County Extension Service Commercial Agronomy and Horticulture Agent 971 W. Duval St. Ste 170 Lake City, FL 32055 386-752-5384 Mace joined the UF/IFAS Columbia County Extension Service in 2013 after twelve years in other positions with the University of Florida. His first position with UF was in Fort Pierce, FL researching Flatwoods Citrus to develop soil-specific rootstock recommendations. In 2006 Mace took a position with the BMP Implementation Team working throughout the Suwannee Valley to assist farmers with adoption of advanced irrigation and nutrient management practices and conservation tillage. This position allowed the installation of many field trials and demonstration plots including advanced irrigation management, nutrient application methods, cover crop selection and management, slow release fertilizers and other water and nutrient management practices. Other relevant work experience included working as a corn scout in Southwest Kansas and a cotton scout in Tennessee during summers in college. Mace is a graduate of University of Missouri with a M.S. Degree in Agronomy. His thesis focused on variable -rate corn seeding and measuring/mapping the soil characteristics of importance in VR seeding. He received a Bachelors Degree in Agronomy from Missouri State University. Mace lives in Lake City with his wife and daughter.
